Gilson Gray, the UK’s fastest-growing law firm, has announced the acquisition of long-established Perth firm Wyllie & Henderson, marking a significant step in its expansion and strengthening its presence across Tayside.

The acquisition, which took effect on 18 May, sees Wyllie & Henderson’s two consultants, Ian Lindsay and Angela Scott, join Gilson Gray alongside eight additional employees. All team members have been retained, ensuring continuity for clients, now backed by Gilson Gray’s wider expertise and resources.

With a heritage spanning more than a century, Wyllie & Henderson is firmly rooted in the Perth market and is well known for its expertise in residential and commercial property, wills, powers of attorney and executries. Its client-focused approach closely aligns with Gilson Gray’s ethos, making the acquisition a natural step in expanding its full-service offering in the region.

This milestone forms part of Gilson Gray’s continued growth strategy across the UK legal market. The firm’s progress has been widely recognised, including a recent Firm of the Year win at the Herald Law Awards, being nominated for Legal Firm of the Year at the recent British Business Awards, and a shortlist placement for Firm of the Year (over 250 employees) at the Scottish Legal Awards.

Lindsay Darroch, Partner and Head of Gilson Gray’s Dundee office said: “Welcoming Ian, Angela and the Wyllie & Henderson team to Gilson Gray is a significant step for us, and I’ve long respected their reputation and the strength of their relationships in the Perth market.

“As we continue to build our presence across Tayside, their client-focused approach fits naturally with how we work, and together we can deliver an even stronger full-service offering. At a time when many firms are scaling back, it’s exciting that we are continuing to invest and grow, giving clients greater access to expertise and support.”

The addition of a Perth office gives Gilson Gray a stronger foothold in a key regional market where it already supports a number of private and business clients. The firm expects to build on this momentum and explore further growth opportunities in the area.

As part of this expansion, Legal Director Sandra Teall has also relocated permanently from Dundee, further strengthening the local offering.

Ian Lindsay, Consultant at Wyllie & Henderson, added: “Joining Gilson Gray is an important step for our team and our clients, giving us access to a broader range of services while maintaining the relationships they value. We’re looking forward to playing our part in its continued growth.”
