Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is in safe hands as Aberdeen legend and former Scotland International goalkeeper Jim Leighton joins the team.
Widely regarded as one of the Club’s greatest ever players, Jim joins the Trust as a Partnerships Executive where he will play a key role in building and strengthening relationships with existing partners, while also exploring new opportunities with prospective partners across the region.
With over 500 appearances for the Dons, Jim brings not only a real connection to the Red Army but also the local business community having forged a successful career in the offshore industry’s commercial sector in recent years.
“Aberdeen FC has always meant a lot to me, so to be given the opportunity to support the work of AFCCT is something I’m really proud of”, said Jim on his return to Pittodrie.
“I’ve seen first-hand the difference the Trust makes across the city and beyond and I’m looking forward to getting out, meeting people, and helping build partnerships that can support that work even further.”
Peter Davidson, Chief Executive of Aberdeen FC Community Trust, hopes this blend of sporting experience and proven business acumen will make a real impact for the Trust.
He added: “Jim is an Aberdeen legend, and we’re absolutely delighted to secure his support in this new role. He understands the Club and the community, and he’s already shown a real commitment to our work.
“Our role as a charity is to use the power of Aberdeen FC to connect with people and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, and Jim is perfectly placed to help us do that.”
As an official partner charity of the Club - alongside Aberdeen FC Heritage Trust - AFCCT exists to connect people with Aberdeen FC beyond the 90 minutes on a matchday, using its power and appeal to reach communities, tackle inequalities, and change lives for the better, across the North-east.
