Westhill-based Orka Solutions is highlighting funding opportunities that could help community groups and businesses cut energy costs and accelerate their net zero plans.
Several schemes are currently open:
- The CARES Community Buildings Fund offers up to 80% of project costs (capped at £80,000) for renewable technologies such as solar PV, heat pumps and battery storage. Applications close 31 October 2025, with projects to be completed by February 2026.
- The Workplace Charging Scheme and EV Infrastructure Grant for SMEs can support businesses installing EV charging for staff or fleets, covering up to 75% of installation costs and offering grants of up to £15,000 per site. Both schemes are open until March 2026.
- A new Depot Charging Grant has been launched, covering up to 75% of installation and civil costs (capped at £1 million across all sites). It is aimed at fleet operators, councils and organisations with larger charging needs.
- In the Highlands & Islands, the HIE Green Grant Fund provides grants of £20,000–£250,000, covering up to 40% of eligible project costs (or 50% in remote areas).
Duncan Booth, director at Orka Solutions, explains: “Whether it’s a community hall, a small business, or a larger fleet depot, there are opportunities across Scotland to cut costs and accelerate the shift to net zero. The key is knowing what support is available — and moving quickly, because many of these schemes have fixed deadlines or limited budgets.”
Recent solar PV and EV charging installation projects by Orka demonstrate how grant support can make a practical difference to organisations facing high energy bills.
