Aberdeen-based Greenwell has proudly announced its decision to make AFC Community Trust its primary sponsorship partner – a move that is deeply personal to directors Julie Wood and Mark Turnbull.

For Julie, the partnership has a special resonance. Her son has benefitted first-hand from the charity’s work, with AFC Community Trust delivering football and education sessions at Culter School. “It makes going to school so much more enjoyable for the children,” Julie explained. “When Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup, the Trust arranged to bring it into the school, which was an incredible moment for the pupils. It really shows the positive impact they have on young people across the city.”

It was during this celebration that Greenwell’s relationship with the Trust took a further step. Julie contacted Debra from the charity to ask if her son and classmates could wear their Greenwell-sponsored football strips for a photo with the Cup. Debra not only agreed but mentioned that the Trust was looking to buy a cabin for matchday operations. This sparked Greenwell’s decision to donate a cabin outright – a gesture that now plays an important role outside Pittodrie on matchdays, serving as the base for the popular 50/50 draw.

For Managing Director Mark Turnbull, the partnership also reflects a lifelong passion for Aberdeen Football Club. Mark has followed the Dons from an early age – from watching the team lift silverware to travelling across Europe to see them play, most recently in Bucharest. That passion is evident throughout Greenwell’s office furniture showroom, which is decorated with famous Aberdeen strips. Sales Manager Alan Western is equally dedicated, rarely missing a game home or away.

Mark recalls another moment that cemented his connection with AFC Community Trust – watching their powerful video showcasing the breadth of their community programmes. “I remember the first time I watched it, how emotional it was. It still gets to me now. That was the moment I became fully aware of the outstanding work the Community Trust does.”

Mark said: “AFC Community Trust does incredible work, especially with young people in our city. As massive Aberdeen supporters, we’re delighted to support them in a way that gives back to the community as well as the club.”

Julie added: “We are so proud to be part of this. The Trust has already made such a difference to my own family, and being able to contribute in this way feels very special. We’re looking forward to building on this partnership and supporting more of their projects in the future.”

Greenwell, a family-run company with over 30 years’ experience supplying office furniture, pallet racking, modular buildings and containers, is committed to supporting its local community while maintaining a proud connection to the Granite City’s footballing heritage.
