Aberdeen-based family business Greenwell Equipment Ltd is delivering regenerated modular building solutions to major infrastructure and energy projects across the UK, strengthening its role within the circular economy.
For nearly 30 years, Greenwell has specialised in the supply, refurbishment, installation and regeneration of modular buildings, welfare facilities and office environments, supporting contractors and organisations seeking flexible, cost-effective and sustainable workspace solutions.
The company has worked across major transport infrastructure, harbour developments, energy projects, utilities and accommodation camps, supplying regenerated modular buildings to some of the UK’s largest contractors. These include Balfour Beatty, Morgan Vinci, Morrison Construction, Hochtief, Subsea 7, Global Energy Group, Dragados, Acciona, BAM, Costain, Skanska, Morgan Sindall and Farrans.
Notable regeneration projects include large-scale modular installations for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR), where 140 units were delivered across north and south compounds, and the FCBCJV project, which involved more than 200 units across barges, towers and site compounds. At Global Energy Group’s Nigg facility, Greenwell provided a 120-man accommodation camp alongside three-storey project offices, while further major projects have included the M74 and Perth/Dunkeld motorway developments, HS2 works across England, and schemes such as Aberdeen South Harbour, Cross Tay Link Road, Edinburgh Trams and Viking Energy in Shetland.
Greenwell’s approach focuses on extending the lifespan of modular buildings through refurbishment and regeneration, helping clients reduce waste, lower environmental impact and maximise value from existing assets.
Alongside modular buildings, the company also supplies refurbished sit-stand desks and regenerated office furniture, supporting sustainable office fit-outs for both temporary and permanent workspaces.
Richy Turnbull, chairman of Greenwell, said: “Regeneration has been part of Greenwell’s business model for decades. We have always believed that quality products and buildings can have a second life when properly refurbished and reimagined.
“Many of the UK’s major infrastructure and energy projects require fast, practical and flexible accommodation solutions, and regenerated modular buildings can offer significant environmental and commercial benefits.
“We are proud that an Aberdeen family business has played a role in projects across the UK while continuing to promote circular economy thinking within our industry.”
Operating from its purpose-built headquarters in Aberdeen, Greenwell provides a complete “advice, plan, supply, install” service across modular buildings, office furniture, pallet racking and storage containers.
