Grow your sales through export

Are you a food and drink producer or support organisation looking to grow business through export or looking to begin selling your products internationally for the first time? Opportunity North East are delighted to host our first “market development – growing your business through export markets” workshop on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 3.00pm to 5.30pm at Thainstone House Hotel, Inverurie. This workshop is free to attend.

Demand for Scottish food and drink exports continues to grow at record pace, with the value of food and drink exports from Scotland to the end of Q3 2017 totalling £4.3bn, showing an increase of 13% versus the same period in 2016. Food alone totalled £1.2bn showing YOY growth of 20% with demand across many different product categories including Dairy, Seafood, Meat and Bakery.

The event will feature short presentations, case studies, and opportunities for one to one meetings and discussions to discuss your own needs in order to explore further Export markets.

It is aimed at food and drink producers, primary processors and those looking to grow their business, who are based in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.

Presentations will include:

  • Emma Harcus, international senior manager for trade and investment for Scottish Development International (SDI) will present “Scotland’s Export Plan for Food and Drink – how your company can start, develop and grow exports”. In additional Emma will host a short Q&A also to answer any questions relating to overall export, support and SDI involvement for you’re your business
  • Seafood Scotland – Hear Patrick Hughes, chief executive of Seafood Scotland, explain how Sector specific organisations help support businesses in particular product sectors as part of the wider Scottish Export Plan, and how your business can benefit from this.
  • Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce – Find out more about AGCC can advise you and support on aspects of international trade in economies around the world and hear how their global network is there to support North-east businesses and help them succeed in overseas markets.
  • Business case study – Dave Grant, MD of Fierce Beer will discuss first-hand their experiences in identifying, accessing and growing Export sales and how the challenges they have overcome and how they approach these challenges.

You will also have the opportunity speak to representatives informally to discuss your own needs with the speakers and other support services.
