Aberdeen accountancy firm Hall Morrice has continued its 50th anniversary celebrations by winning national awards that recognise its use of technology and investment in staff.

The independent firm won the Finance Digital Transformation Award and Employer of the Year (Medium) at the 2026 Accounting Excellence Awards, held at the Roundhouse in London. It was also shortlisted for Mid-Tier Firm of the Year.

Now in their 20th year, the “Oscars of Accounting” recognise achievement across the accountancy profession, with Intuit QuickBooks as headline sponsor. Judges’ praise for Hall Morrice included its innovation, the results of changes to how it works and the way its support of staff aligns with business objectives.

The Finance Digital Transformation Award follows work to unify the firm’s computer systems, giving staff up-to-date financial information and a clearer view of progress on client work. The automation project has resulted in improved productivity, helping teams spend less time on administration and more time advising clients.

The Employer of the Year (Medium) Award recognises achievement across the board, including investment in staff to establish clear career paths, regular feedback and an expanded trainee programme. In July, Hall Morrice reported that staff had passed 91% of their professional accountancy, tax and payroll exams at the first attempt. It also reported 11 internal promotions in the preceding 12 months.

Earlier this year, Hall Morrice reported turnover of £6.2 million for the year to March 2026, welcomed eight new colleagues and announced plans for a service helping businesses use artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. The firm employs more than 80 people.

Commenting on the double win, Managing Partner Robert Bain said: “These awards recognise the work our people have put into improving the firm, including using technology to cut routine administration and give our teams more time with clients.

“We want people to build their careers here, with the training and support they need. Winning these awards in our 50th year is something the whole team can be proud of because their work is what keeps the firm improving.”

Founded in 1976, Hall Morrice is an independent firm of chartered accountants and business advisers serving sectors including energy, construction, retail and professional services.
