Fly Cup Enterprises was pleased to welcome Harriet Cross, MP for Gordon, to its Inverurie premises on 31st July, during a special year marking the charity’s 25th anniversary.

The visit offered an opportunity to showcase the charity’s training kitchen, coffee shop and meeting rooms, where adults with learning disabilities and difficulties gain confidence, skills, independence and work experience in a functioning hospitality setting.

During the tour, Ms Cross met staff, volunteers and trainees, and saw first-hand the positive impact Fly Cup has made in the community over the past 25 years.

Fly Cup CEO, Fiona Heinonen said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Harriet Cross MP and show her everything that is at the heart of Fly Cup - our trainees, staff and the joyful atmosphere that makes our charity so special. We were delighted to show her how something as simple as popping in for lunch, afternoon tea, or just a cuppa and a scone helps support our mission.”

Fly Cup Enterprises is a registered charity and social enterprise, providing training and industry recognised qualifications to adults with learning disabilities and difficulties, across its coffee shop, bakery, kitchen, meeting spaces, and catering services.  Trainees learn practical skills alongside building confidence, social skills, independence, and self-esteem, all within a real workplace environment.

With a growing demand for its services, the charity is now focusing on expanding its social enterprise income, which includes supplying corporate lunches, event catering, and baked goods to local businesses.

“We’re always grateful for donations,” said Fiona. “But one of the easiest ways a business can support us is by using our services.  Whether it’s catering for meetings, lunches, events or for regular orders, your business gets great food and service, Fly Cup earns vital income to fund our work, and our trainees get to do what they love - creating high-quality, handmade food while learning and being part of a supportive working team.

"These partnerships create genuine social value and offer businesses a simple, meaningful way to show their commitment to social responsibility through their supply chain.”

Businesses interested in supporting Fly Cup through procurement or partnerships can learn more at www.flycup.orgby visiting the coffee shop in Inverurie, or get in touch directly via email or phone.
