Aberdeen City Council is inviting residents and interested parties to take part in shaping the future of Hazlehead Cemetery, through two upcoming drop-in consultation events.

Hazlehead Cemetery has just over 5,000 used lairs and space for approximately 650 more cremation casket lairs and 850 more burial lairs. It is estimated that this will mean the current site at Hazlehead will reach capacity for new lairs in around five years.

As part of the pre-planning process for the proposed expansion of the cemetery, the Council is keen to hear from the public and gather feedback on the initial plans.

The two drop-in events are being held at Hazlehead Academy, Groats Road, Aberdeen, at the following times:

  • Wednesday 30 July – 3.30pm to 7.30pm
  • Wednesday 13 August – 3.30pm to 7.30pm

These informal sessions will provide an opportunity to view the proposed plans, ask questions, and share views directly with Council officers.  Input from the public and interested parties will help to shape the development of this important community space.

To take part in the pre-planning consultation online, launching on Wednesday 30 July, please visit https://hazlehead-cemetery-expansion.commonplace.is and share your views by Friday 15 August 2025.
