The James Hutton Institute is excited to announce the appointment of Helena Gray to its board as a non-executive director.

Helena has over 20 years of experience in both the UK and Scottish public sector. She lives on a 450-acre mixed arable family farm in East Lothian with her husband and two children.

As a farmer’s wife and mother to future farmers, she has a deep personal commitment to the sustainable future of agriculture and the families and communities which depend on it.

Helena’s public sector expertise will be of great benefit as the Hutton continues to find solutions for the challenges imposed on the sustainability and resilience of our crops, land, natural resources and communities by the climate and biodiversity crises.

She said, “I believe organisations such as The James Hutton Institute have a vital role to play in helping the agricultural industry, and the families and communities that depend on it, navigate the challenges ahead.”

Helena joined the board on October 1.
