Clan Cancer Support has announced Hellmann Worldwide
Logistics as the headline sponsor for its art trail in 2023, with only six weeks to
go for the final ten sculptures to be claimed by local businesses.
The leading North-east cancer charity, in partnership with
Wild in Art, will exhibit 40 spectacular hare sculptures across the north-east,
Moray, Shetland and Orkney next year in The Big Hop Trail.
Businesses across Clan’s geography have already sponsored
30 of the sculptures for the project which follows the Light the North Trail,
which raised £325,000 for the charity in 2021.
Hellmann has secured one of two available headline sponsor
opportunities for the project, entitling the worldwide logistics company to two
six-foot hare sculptures in the main trail and two mini hare sculptures to be
decorated by local schools.
Hellmann will further support the project by storing the
forty hare installations at its Dyce headquarters before they are put on public
display from July to September next year.
Kevin Gaw, Hellmann’s
Branch Manager, said: “As cancer sadly becomes more prevalent – we
will all be touched by it directly or indirectly which is why at Hellmann
Worldwide Logistics we stand alongside Clan in the support they provide to
those impacted by the illness.
It is our privilege to be a headline sponsor of this
fantastic trail which helps raise much needed awareness and funds.”
Sculpture sponsors from the 2021 trail including DC Thomson, The Good Sleep Co, Cable Solutions, Colin
Lawson, Oldmeldrum Town Centre Regeneration Group, North Star Shipping and
Aberdeen Performing Arts have signed up again to secure a bespoke sculpture to
be featured on the trail from July to September next year.
Phil Anderson Financial Services has also signed up to be
the official T-shirt sponsor for the project, marking Clan’s 40th
anniversary.
Local artists will work on the
hares to create unique designs and identities for each sculpture with the
artwork sold at auction at the end of the project, funding vital support services
provided by Clan Cancer Support.
Businesses have until the end of
December to secure the remaining 10 sculptures before the artist selection
process begins.
Teresa Bremner, Clan’s sculpture
trail project manager, said: “There’s been a lot of excitement and interest
since we launched The Big Hop Trail earlier this year and we’re delighted to
see so many sponsors – old and new – sign up for their own sculpture to be
featured.
“The Big Hop Trail is a
much-anticipated event which will allow the public to freely access culture
while celebrating and exploring our beautiful region, making it a unique and
very creative sponsorship opportunity for businesses to engage with the local
community.
“We’re incredibly grateful to
everyone who has sponsored a hare so far. There are now only ten very special
sculptures available, and we’d encourage anyone interested to contact us to
find out how they can be part of this legacy and help Clan to support people
affected by cancer.”
