Organisers of one of Scotland’s largest wedding shows have hailed this year’s exhibition as a resounding success after it drew to a close at the weekend (January 20-21, 2018).
Your Wedding Exhibition, held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), attracted 3,108 visitors, including numerous soon-to-be brides and grooms, and another 1,000-plus staff and business owners from over 200 different exhibitors.
While predominantly focused on Aberdeen City and Shire, visitors and exhibitors travelled from across the length and breadth of Scotland – including from Angus, Moray, the Highlands and Central Belt.
Simon Morgan, director of Your Wedding Exhibition, said: “We are delighted – if a little tired – to have delivered another successful exhibition for brides, grooms, their families, visitors and exhibitors.
“While overall numbers were broadly in line with recent years, it is deeply encouraging to see continued signs of growth in the north-east market with more business being transacted than perhaps ever before; a sign of increasing confidence in the local economy which it is hoped continues throughout the year.
“Exhibitors reported a great deal of new business being done across both days of the show, not only with visitors but also the opportunity to network and cross-sell with other stand-holders, as well as meet with new and existing suppliers.”
Everything from wedding venues, dresses, hair and make-up to photographers, jewellers and florists was available via the multitude of businesses of all sizes in attendance. The award for best stand was given to Fondant Cake Design (Stand U2), while the winner of the visitors’ vote was named as Avorio Bridal of Fochabers (Stand T2).
Further highlights across the weekend saw a twice-daily catwalk fashion show displaying the latest in bridal and groomswear, a prosecco bar and the launch of several new businesses including Eco Wedding Cars – an exclusive vehicle transfer service that features a seven-seater Tesla Model X with gullwing doors.
There was also a prize draw and competitions for visitors, where one lucky visitor has won £500 towards their own wedding from any exhibitor of their choosing, with the announcement to be made imminently.
Attention now turns to next year’s event with the dates officially confirmed for the weekend of January 19-20 (2019), which will again be held at the AECC.
The venue’s director of sales and marketing, Louise Stewart, commented: “Kicking off the year with the north-east’s biggest wedding exhibition is always a pleasure for the AECC. It’s great to see that this key event has yet again been such a huge success for exhibitors and show visitors.
“We look forward to welcoming the Your Wedding Exhibition team back in 2019 for their last wedding show at the venue, before moving in 2020 to the new, state-of-the-art venue in Dyce.”
