Home-Start Aberdeen has been recognised as Small Organisation of the Year 2025 at this year’s Celebrate Aberdeen Awards, held on Saturday evening at The Chester Hotel.

The annual awards honour the work of third sector organisations, volunteers and community groups across the city who make a meaningful difference to local lives.

The award acknowledges Home‑Start Aberdeen’s ongoing work providing emotional and practical support to families with young children across the city. Through its network of trained volunteers, the charity supports parents who may be facing challenges such as social isolation, financial pressures, or difficulties with confidence in early parenthood.

Cameron McCready, Chief Executive of Home‑Start Aberdeen, said:  “We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition. It reflects the dedication, compassion, and commitment shown every day by our volunteers, trustees, staff and supporters. This award also belongs to the families who open their doors to us and work alongside us to create positive change in their lives, even in challenging circumstances.”

“At Home‑Start Aberdeen, we believe that the earliest years of a child’s life are vitally important. The right support at the right time can make a profound and lasting difference. To have this work recognised alongside so many inspiring organisations across the city is a real honour.”

Home‑Start Aberdeen has been supporting families for more than 35 years, offering home‑visiting support, group sessions and community‑based programmes, all aimed at helping parents build confidence, strengthen relationships and create nurturing home environments. The charity currently supports around 200 families across Aberdeen each year.

Cameron added: “We want to extend our thanks to Celebrate Aberdeen, their sponsors and supporters, and to congratulate all the other organisations, volunteers and individuals recognised over the weekend. We are proud to be part of such a strong and collaborative third‑sector community here in Aberdeen.”
