Hundreds of runners, families, and supporters turned out this weekend to take part in popular annual fundraiser, Run Barra 2025, raising funds for local children’s charity Kayleigh’s Wee Stars (KWS).

A total of £14,000 was raised on Saturday 31st May, which will enable the charity to continue supporting families across Scotland where a child has a terminal diagnosis.

This year’s event saw a record turnout with over 500 runners taking part across the 10K, newly introduced 5K, and junior race categories, making it the most inclusive and accessible Run Barra yet.

Held annually in Oldmeldrum, the multi-terrain event was rebranded this year from ‘Barra 10K’ to ‘Run Barra’ to reflect the addition of the 5K route, which proved popular with newer and younger runners.

Anna Cordiner, Charity Manager and mum to Kayleigh, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the support again this year. The introduction of the 5K made the event more accessible than ever, and it was amazing to see so many new faces taking part. Every entry directly supports families going through the unthinkable, and we are so grateful.”

With the support of generous sponsors, every penny raised from entry fees goes directly to families with a child facing a terminal illness, supporting them to make lasting memories together.

The 2025 event saw some impressive times across both routes:

  • Fastest Male (10K): Dino Roussais 40.04
  • Fastest Female (10K): Moira Davie 41.40
  • Fastest Male (5K): Joe Murray 18.02
  • Fastest Female (5K): Millie Glass 18.10

Jonathan Cordiner, Kayleigh’s dad and co-founder of KWS, added: “This event means so much to us. Seeing the community come together like this is incredibly moving. We are so grateful to all of our sponsors, corporate partners, volunteers, marshals, local businesses, fundraisers and of course the runners themselves, who helped us put on such a fantastic event.

Run Barra just keeps growing, and we’re excited for what next year brings.”
