Hydrogen supply chain mapping project

Pale Blue Dot Energy are completing a Hydrogen Supply Chain Mapping project for Aberdeen City Council. They would like to ask you for feedback about the hydrogen opportunities for Aberdeen, and whether you have a specific interest in developing hydrogen capability in the Aberdeen Region. This is a 4 question survey which can easily be completed in less than 3 minutes:

The purpose of the study is to develop a supply chain map of the hydrogen sector for Aberdeen and its surrounding region. A general supply chain map will be produced which could be related to any city from which a more detailed supply chain map for Aberdeen will also be produced (also see Background below).

Background

Aberdeen Region Hydrogen Strategy and Action Plan 2015-2025 aims to develop a hydrogen economy in Aberdeen by developing infrastructure, increasing fleet, developing supply chain and training opportunities, hydrogen storage/grid balancing, and production of green hydrogen through connection to renewables. The Hydrogen Strategy will help to fulfil the aims of the Regional Economic Strategy through diversification of industry, and also contribute to local air quality improvement and as well as helping to meet climate change targets through reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The Hydrogen Transport Economy (HyTrEc) 2 Project is part funded by EU Interreg North Sea Region (NSR) and runs for 4 years from 2017-2021. One work package looks at supply chain and training. In order to develop a hydrogen economy in Aberdeen a strong supply chain must be established. The development of an effective supply chain in the various components of hydrogen transport is a key element in the reduction of costs. A supply chain is needed for the production, storage and distribution of hydrogen as well as the maintenance of vehicles. Companies may come from the automotive industry or industries like oil and gas that have similar products and skills and need to diversify their product range. The aim of the HyTrEc2 project is to expand the supply chain so that at the end of four years there will not be a mature supply chain but the gaps will be filling with more local and regional companies. To that end supply chain mapping is to be completed.
