Ian Rodger Architects has sponsored a Cat! The concrete statue was given to Harlaw Academy, and the pupils have decorated it in the colours, crest & logo of Unicef Children’s Rights.
The transformed Cat is on display in the windows of Waterstones, opposite the original Kelly’s Cats at the bridge on Union Street.
Ian Rodger is currently President of Rotary Club Aberdeen Bon Accord, and this club is responsible for the fundraising project Cat Parade. 100 No. Cats – the number is celebrating 100 years of Rotary in Aberdeen – have been created in the mould of Kelly’s Cats. Local businesses have sponsored the Cats, to be decorated by artists, students, pupils etc. The resultant range of different designs are extraordinary to see!
The Cat Parade project will terminate with a Reception & Auction in The Marcliffe at Pitfodels Hotel on September 28. The Cats may be viewed on www.catparade.co.uk, and online bidding is available.
Ian Rodger Architects are happy to have helped with the Cat Parade project; with Ian Rodger explaining that the aim of Bon Accord club is to raise about £40,000 for three charities: CLAN, Aberdeen Streetsport, and UNICEF.
