A Scottish ice cream campaign celebrating the quality and creaminess of one of the nation’s best-known brands has scooped a major accolade at Scotland’s leading food and drink awards.
Mackie’s of Scotland took home the Food & Drink Campaign of the Year title at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards for its Full Cream Ahead campaign.
The Aberdeenshire family business secured the award at a ceremony at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel, with the recognition celebrating a campaign designed to strengthen brand loyalty in Scotland while supporting Mackie’s continued expansion across England and Wales.
Tom Mackenzie, Marketing Manager at Mackie’s of Scotland, said: “Full Cream Ahead was about being confident in what makes Mackie’s different and giving people a memorable reason to choose us when they reach the freezer aisle.
“We operate in a hugely competitive category where promotions and brand recognition both have a major influence on what shoppers put in their baskets, so we wanted to shift that conversation back towards the product itself - its quality, its creaminess and the real dairy that goes into it, with fresh milk coming from our own herd of more than 300 cows at our farm.”
“The campaign gave us an opportunity to communicate those qualities in a bold and memorable way, while retaining the personality that people have come to associate with Mackie’s.
“To see that work recognised by Scotland’s food and drink industry is a fantastic endorsement of the thinking behind the campaign and of the team who brought it to life.”
The Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards bring together businesses from across the sector, celebrating the people, products and companies contributing to Scotland’s reputation for food and drink.
Launched as Mackie’s summer campaign for 2025, Full Cream Ahead was developed to build on the brand’s already high awareness and loyalty among Scottish shoppers while helping accelerate its growth across the rest of Great Britain.
It focused on moving consumers away from promotion-led purchasing towards making a deliberate brand choice, highlighting the quality credentials that distinguish Mackie’s within a category dominated by major brands and frequent price promotions.
Mackie’s was shortlisted for the award alongside businesses including Angus Soft Fruits, Lazy Day Foods and Simon Howie Foods.
The family-owned business has placed sustainability at the heart of its operations, harnessing renewable energy from wind, sun and biomass at its Aberdeenshire farm, where it generates more than twice the energy it uses.
The latest recognition adds to growing momentum for the Scottish brand as it continues to strengthen its reputation in overseas markets while remaining rooted in its Aberdeenshire heritage.
