IKEA has announced plans to open a Plan and Order Point in Union Square, Aberdeen, with the store set to open in spring next year.
IKEA’s
Plan and Order Points are smaller stores designed to provide customers with
bespoke kitchen, bedroom and storage planning services. At these locations,
customers can access in-depth home furnishing advice and expertise to assist
them in planning, purchasing, and installing their ideal kitchens, bedroom and
living room storage.
The
Plan and Order Point will also offer a collection area for online orders, with
customers able to return IKEA purchases to the store. In addition to planning services, customers can browse
and purchase from a curated range of around 250 home furnishing accessories,
available for immediate takeaway.
Once open, customers will be able to drop-in or book
an appointment online to start their design. Products can then be ordered from
across the full IKEA range for delivery direct to the customer’s home, to the
Plan and Order Point, or a Click and Collect location of their choice.
Kevin Coventry, market manager at
IKEA, said: “Our new Plan and Order Point format is designed to better meet the needs of
our customers in Aberdeen, offering free consultations with our planning
specialists to help design their dream spaces, as well as the order, collection
and return services that are available in all our stores. We look forward to
welcoming customers inside next year.”
Stephen Flynn, MP for Aberdeen
South, said: “I met with the senior team at IKEA just
recently and I’m really pleased that they’re choosing to open a new store right
in our city centre - it’s a big boost and I’m sure shoppers will be looking
forward to it opening.”
While IKEA has confirmed it plans to close its
existing Order and Collection Point in Wellington Circle, Aberdeen, the store
remains open as usual until further notice. The opening date of the new site in
Union Square will be announced one month ahead of time.
IKEA has a strong presence in Scotland with stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and a new Plan and Order Point also set to open in Dundee in the coming months.
