North-east Green MSP Maggie Chapman is at risk of losing her seat at Holyrood losing the party's internal election for the constituency.

Chapman lost out to Guy Ingerson, who used to work in her office, amid a turbulent relationship between the pair.

The Times reports Ingerson previously lodged complaints of bullying against Chapman, claiming she had insinuated to his new employer, Friends of the Earth Scotland, that he was "untrustworthy" and should be "watched".

Reacting to winning the internal election, Ingerson said he was "shocked and delighted", adding that while there would be no policy changes from him there would be a "change of tone".

All six of the party’s other MSPs — Gillian Mackay, Lorna Slater, Patrick Harvie, Ariane Burgess, Mark Ruskell and Ross Greer — came top in their internl elections ahead of the May 2026 Holyrood election.

Asked why members had favoured Ingerson over Chapman, an insider told The Times: “Take your pick of the controversies over the last few years. Members probably just got tired of that being the only reason why their MSP was ever in the news. Guy has been extremely active locally for years and Maggie just hasn’t been.”
