Murgitroyd, the global intellectual property specialist, is delighted to announce the top three finalists in its 2018 Innovator Launchpad competition for early-stage entrepreneurs.

After a public vote which closed on Friday. December 15, the three entries which gained the most public support and which go through to the final stage are:

  • Alterwaste (alterwaste.com), a company tackling plastic pollution by creating a brand-new fully compostable alternative to plastic made from eggshells;
  • Designed ForLife (sofaforlife.co.uk), creators of an innovative sofa design which has a circular service and extends the sofa’s lifetime by enabling adaptability, reuse and recycling;
  • Windstorm Renewables (windstormrenewables.com), who have developed a mini power station design using innovative wind turbine technology on a modified vertical axis wind turbine which generates more power for a lesser cost.

The public voted on 90-second videos created by the top ten companies who made the public voting stage.

Alterwaste, Designed ForLife and Windstorm Renewables now go through to a formal judging round where they will be interviewed by a cross-industry panel.

Up for grabs is a top prize of a £6,500 cash investment plus a PR and advice package. The winner will also claim a limited-edition space jacket.

Further corporate sponsors of the 2018 competition are Leyton UK, Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banking Group, Dog Digital and Betabrand, with each donating its own expertise and support to the competition.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
