ACVO TSI shares the latest edition of ACVO News, the free digital magazine highlighting the work, achievements and opportunities from across Aberdeen’s third sector.

ACVO News provides local organisations a platform to share their impact, alongside the latest funding opportunities, volunteering roles, events and vacancies. The publication also features insight from the ACVO team and wider sector, helping to keep organisations and communities informed and connected.

The July edition spotlights Inchgarth Community Centre's Phoenix Club. Through a short film and feature article produced by ACVO, readers can hear from those involved as they share their experiences of the much-loved club which helps adults with additional support needs find friendship, fun and a sense of belonging in their community.

The latest Why I Volunteer in Aberdeen films focus on inspiring young volunteers from Sport Aberdeen, Denis Law Legacy Trust and Future Choices. Katy, Marcus and Zac share their volunteering journeys, what inspires them to give back and the impact volunteering has had on their lives as well as those they support.

ACVO also announces a refresh of its membership offering. Bringing organisations together to connect, collaborate and share learning, ACVO Membership helps build a stronger, more visible and more influential third sector. With Ordinary, Campaigning and Associate Memberships available, there are flexible ways for organisations of all sizes to be part of the collective voice of Aberdeen's third sector.

Speaking on the membership refresh, Maggie Hepburn, ACVO Chief Executive, said: “We're delighted to introduce our refreshed ACVO Membership, including the launch of our new free Campaigning Membership. We want to make it easier for organisations of every size to connect with ACVO, engage with the wider sector and help shape the conversations and decisions that affect communities across Aberdeen. I hope many more organisations will join us and become part of this growing network.”

Other third sector updates this month include:

  • SAMH open The Nook in Aberdeen’s city centre - a transformational, free walk-in mental health hub making quality, non-clinical mental health support easily available to those who need it.
  • Nominations are now open for the Celebrate Aberdeen Awards 2026 - an event that recognises and celebrates the outstanding positive impact that individuals, organisations and volunteers from across the North-east’s third sector make.
  • A specially adapted climbing session was held by Charlie House and Transition Extreme, allowing children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions to reach new heights using a combination of hoists, pulleys and specialist support equipment.

Third sector organisations, charities and community groups are encouraged to contact ACVO to share their stories and news. Featuring your story is a great way to promote local projects, celebrate achievements and raise awareness of valuable work in Aberdeen’s communities.
