ACVO TSI is delighted to share the latest ACVO News publication, the free digital magazine showcasing the work, achievements and opportunities from Aberdeen’s third sector.

ACVO News is a key platform in promoting the vibrant work of third sector organisations in the city, providing the latest funding opportunities, volunteering roles, events and vacancies and sharing the latest insights from the ACVO team.

In the November edition, a spotlight is shone on MCR Pathways – a charity helping young people build confidence, resilience and lasting support networks through their relationship-based, mentoring model.

Rebecca Finnie, Community Delivery Lead (North Region), and Olivia Turnbull, Young Carers Pathway Coordinator, share the charity’s latest community-based programme, Vital Sparks, as well as how they are working towards The Promise to ensure young people from care-experienced backgrounds grow up loved, safe and respected.

ACVO is also pleased to present their latest film highlighting the impact of Inchgarth Community Centre’s Men’s Club. Readers have the opportunity to hear directly from those who attend the weekly sessions, and learn how having a welcoming space to connect and socialise has positively impacted members’ mental health, wellbeing and confidence.

Also in this edition, ACVO colleagues provide their latest updates: Development Officer Sandy Mathers provides a video guide to Scottish charities, Volunteering Services Manager Mike Melvin shares news of community resilience and volunteer achievements, and ACVO invites members to their Annual General Meeting.

Maggie Hepburn, ACVO Chief Executive, says: “The AGM is always an important moment in our year - a chance to look back at what’s been achieved together, share plans for the year ahead and celebrate the people and partnerships that make Aberdeen’s third sector what it is.

“We warmly invite all ACVO members to join us on Wednesday 12th November at Aberdeen Arts Centre. We look forward to seeing you there.”

Other third sector updates this month include:

  • Empower Aberdeen, organised by Scarf, brings together 60 local charities and organisations to provide face-to-face support to residents of Aberdeen.
  • Winners of the Celebrate Aberdeen 2025 Awards are announced, with Morven Mackenzie, founder of Celebrate Aberdeen, presented the Lifetime Achievement Award.
  • The Santa Run returns as Charlie House invites families, friends and even four-legged companions to dash through the city this festive season.

Third sector organisations, charities and community groups are welcome to contact ACVO to share their stories or if they wish to have a feature article highlighting the work they do in Aberdeen. Having your story included is a great way to promote local projects, celebrate achievements and raise awareness of valuable work to Aberdeen’s communities.
