Lochaber Chamber of Commerce is leading a delegation to Nova Scotia for businesses interested in exploring business opportunities in Canada to expand their International Trade activity.

The trade mission will help your business explore international trade opportunities in the province of Nova Scotia, reaching out across the bustling capital city of Halifax and to key locations beyond.

Canada is the second-largest country in the world and has the World’s tenth largest economy based on its GDP of US$1.731trillion (CAD$ 2.251trillion) in 2019, it is also a member of the G7 group of the seven largest IMF-advanced economies in the world.

Canada’s economic freedom score is 78.2, making its economy the ninth freest in the 2020 index.

Halifax is the Capital City of Nova Scotia and has had four consecutive years of record population growth in both absolute and percentage terms, with almost 10,000 newcomers added to their population over the year July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. Furthermore, of all census metropolitan areas in Canada, Halifax was the third fastest growing city.

Halifax is the gateway to Atlantic Canada and enjoys fantastic trade links to the UK through its bustling port.

There are extensive historical ties between the UK and Canada.

Canada has similar business and legal practices to the UK with a strong business and consumer base and is a good starting point for entering the North American market as well as the wider American markets.

What is involved?
As part of this trade mission delegates will receive market briefings on key opportunities in Nova Scotia, a networking event with business organisations in Halifax; and one-to-one business meetings with potential clients or trade partners in Nova Scotia, based on your company requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity to dip your toe in the water at a relatively low cost. We arrange meetings and special events, you pay the cost of your own travel, accommodation and some food (probably around £1,200).
