The Heads of the two largest co-educational all through independent schools in Houston and Aberdeen met together this week in Aberdeen to explore how they can work together to connect pupils and families internationally.
Andrew Derry, principal of the British International School of Houston visited Robert Gordon’s College looking at the significant synergy and shared vision between the two schools. Both schools have common goals in achieving the highest quality of learning and teaching, digital education, and an international approach to preparing pupils for life beyond school.
Simon Mills, head of Robert Gordon’s College said: “It has been an ideal opportunity to explore how Robert Gordon’s College can work more closely with the British International School of Houston with whom we have a common goal of developing happy, well rounded pupils. The schools share many values and educational links including partnerships with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) teaching approaches, as well as exceptional practice in the performing arts of drama, dance, music and art. I look forward to visiting their new, purpose built campus in summer to further discuss our desire to do more together and work collaboratively with families as they relocate to and from Houston and Aberdeen.”
Andrew Derry, Principal of the British International School of Houston commented:“I was delighted to be able to spend some time with Robert Gordon’s College while I was in Scotland. As the leading schools in our respective regions, I think we are uniquely positioned to explore how we can develop our shared values for the benefit of our students and communities. Our initial conversations have centred on Entrepreneurial programmes and STEAM activities and I am excited to see how we can develop these further. I look forward to being able to welcome Mr. Mills to Houston in the near future."
