International School Aberdeen (ISA) has announced the launch of a new dedicated Assessment Centre, significantly expanding local access to formal qualification testing across the North-east.

Registration is now officially open for external candidates, with the first exam series taking place in spring/summer 2027.

The initiative provides a local solution for independent learners, external candidates, and home-schooling families who require an approved examination venue for recognised qualifications. Historically, candidates in the region sitting these examinations independently often had to travel as far as Edinburgh to find an available testing site.

The ISA Assessment Centre will offer a comprehensive range of IGCSE and GCSE examinations through both Cambridge Assessment International Education and Pearson Edexcel. These qualifications complement ISA’s existing secondary curriculum, where internal students sit optional examinations across five key IGCSE subjects alongside their International Baccalaureate (IB) studies.

Jo Curnock, ISA Strategic Lead for Assessment and Data, explained the vision behind establishing the new regional hub: “Our aim is to provide one central, dedicated space in the North East where candidates and their families feel fully supported from start to finish. From managing entries to coordinating access arrangements, we will take care of all the administrative details to make the entire process as seamless and stress-free as possible for the students sitting their exams.”

Alongside these new qualification options, ISA will continue its long-standing role as a SAT testing venue, hosting examinations six times a year for students preparing for applications to US universities and international higher education institutions.

Located at ISA’s campus on North Deeside Road, the Assessment Centre offers state-of-the-art facilities designed to ensure a comfortable and focused testing environment. Candidates benefit from dedicated exam rooms, convenient on-site campus parking, and easy transport links from across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

Families and candidates interested in registering for the 2027 exam series or learning more about available exam boards can visit the ISA Assessment Centre Page or complete the Online Registration Form.
