Inverurie-based road maintenance specialist Red Stag Materials has been awarded a place on the Scotland Excel Framework for Bitumen and Associated Products, securing positions across four Lots: Reinstatement Products, Surface Dressing Products, Cementitious Products, and Sundry Bitumen Items.
Red Stag Materials is the only Scottish-based company to be appointed to the framework, which is estimated to have a combined value, within the 4 Lots, in excess of £14million over its term.
This latest success builds on Red Stag’s existing relationship with Scotland Excel, having previously held a position on the earlier Bitumen framework and currently supplying local authorities through the Scotland Excel Construction Materials Framework. The company’s appointment across multiple Lots reinforces its standing as a trusted supplier to local authorities, highways teams, and other public sector organisations across Scotland.
Scotland Excel is the Centre of Procurement Expertise for local government in Scotland. It supports the country’s 32 local authorities and over 100 associate members by delivering collaborative procurement frameworks that drive best value, improve service delivery, and stimulate inclusive economic growth.
Founded in 2018, Red Stag Materials introduced EZ Street Asphalt to the UK market – a carbon-neutral cold asphalt product that has since become widely adopted across both the public and private sectors. The company has since expanded its road maintenance product portfolio to include packaged bitumen, tack coats, bond coats, overbanding systems, asphalt release agents, thermoplastic road marking products and cementitious materials.
Managing Director Grant Shewan said: “Our participation in this framework gives public sector bodies access to the same range of high-performing products already trusted by a growing number of private sector clients, including highways contractors, utility firms, and civil engineering companies. We’re committed to supporting all of our customers with products that not only perform but align with their sustainability goals.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and the net zero journey, Red Stag is actively investing in the development of low and zero carbon alternatives to traditional carbon-intensive materials. The company also funds the planting of carbon-absorbing mangrove trees in Indonesia for every online order placed through its website.
Red Stag Materials currently employs ten people in Scotland and continues to grow through successful appointments to key national procurement frameworks, including Scotland Excel, YPO, the Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation (ESPO), and the Yorkshire Highways Alliance.
