Dons legend Sir Alex Ferguson boosted the value of his company to £20million last year, according to new accounts published this week.
The former Manchester United manager’s family firm has posted results that show his wealth is continuing to soar nine years after he retired.
Ferguson, 80, who led Aberdeen FC to European glory in 1983, has earned millions from book deals, personal appearances and public speaking.
A film of his life was released last year and last month a statue of him was placed outside the Richard Donald Stand at Pittodrie.
The Times reports that accounts for his firm ACF (Alexander Chapman Ferguson) Sports Promotions show it has total assets of £27.5million and owes almost £7million to creditors. The firm is valued at £20,583,212, up £3.5million from the previous year.
Its assets include Ferguson’s football memorabilia, valued at £2million and on display at the Manchester United Museum and the National Football Museum.
While he and his wife, Cathy, have been directors of ACF since 1988, in 2012 their three sons — Jason, his twin Darren and the eldest brother Mark — joined the board.
They now run the day-to-day operations of the company.
