Celebrity Catchphrase has been commissioned for a 12th series by ITV from production company STV Studios.

One of the UK’s most popular game show formats of all time, Celebrity Catchphrase will once again see Stephen Mulhern asking famous faces to decipher head-scratching sayings from a series of animated picture puzzles.

Series 12 will feature ten brand new episodes, including a Soccer Aid special. Filming takes place this autumn for ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player.

Stephen Mulhern said: “It's fantastic to be doing another series of Celebrity Catchphrase and to know that people will be back shouting at their tellies being far cleverer than the celebrities. We love making the show – it’s packed with laughs, all the family can watch, and it raises huge amounts of money for great causes. I cannot wait! Roll on the new series."

Since relaunching in 2013, Celebrity Catchphrase has welcomed hundreds of household names from across the worlds of TV, sport, music and social media, who have raised thousands of pounds for charitable causes.

The show’s 11th series, which aired earlier this year, featured stars including Rob Delaney, James Acaster, Mel Giedroyc, Joanna Page, Chris Packham, Guz Khan and Motsi Mabuse.

Gemma John-Lewis, Commissioner, Entertainment & Reality, ITV said: "We are excited to bring viewers a fresh series of Celebrity Catchphrase, continuing its tradition as brilliant entertainment for all ages."

David Mortimer, CEO of STV Studios, said: “The enduring appeal of Celebrity Catchphrase lies in its warmth, humour and of course, its playalongability. As we return with series 12, we’re excited to bring our dedicated audience, as well as new viewers, more memorable moments, brilliant celebs, and plenty of puzzling catchphrases to guess.”
