James Martin to headline Taste of Grampian, June 3 2017

Taste of Grampian is back for its 18th year at Thainstone Centre and will be bigger and better than ever before thanks to the announcement that James Martin will be the headline celebrity chef.

The big reveal was made at today’s AGCC’s ‘Shire Connections’ Appetite for Change business lunch which was held in front of 100 guests at Pittodrie House Hotel.

Taste of Grampian Chairman, John Gregor said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be welcoming James Martin back to Thainstone Centre this year. We see it as a major coup to have secured such a high-profile chef. His last visit was in 2001 and since then, he has gone on to become a household name. I am sure he is going to be a huge draw for this year’s festival and he will be interested to see how the event has grown since he was last here.”

James Martin commented: “It’s been a busy 16 years since I was last at Taste of Grampian and I’m really looking forward to heading back to an area so well known for its fantastic produce. I’ll be showcasing what I do best with a host of new recipes using fresh, local Grampian ingredients which I think the audience will love.”

This year’s Taste of Grampian is set to expand. Due to the popularity of street food, craft beers and spirits, the Committee has decided to extend the event into the evening with a music festival. There will be a variety of local musicians and bands to entertain guests whilst they enjoy the food and drink on offer.

Event partners ANM Group, Aberdeenshire Council, Opportunity North East, the Press & Journal and Evening Express have secured another great line up for this year’s festival. There will be over 180 stand holders. Several indoor and outdoor cookery demonstrations with advice from celebrity and locally talented chefs. Stalls from regional producers, an arts and crafts marquee, competitions, beer and wine tent. As well as the Press & Journal/Evening Express Motor Show, BBQ Cook School and a whole host of music and entertainment.

John Gregor continued; “This is the biggest one-day food festival in Scotland. It is a huge event to put together. We look forward to welcoming the crowds to one of the best events in the north-east calendar."
