The DP World Tour event took place at Trump International Golf Links near Aberdeen this past weekend, where Scot Grant Forrest secured his second title, four years on from his win at the Hero Open in St Andrews.
This new event on the DP World Tour calendar was sponsored by Nexo and Jamieson & Carry were honoured to be commissioned to create the championship trophy.
The trophy is a collaboration between Jamieson & Carry and British silversmith Chris Perry, with whom Jamieson & Carry have worked for many years. The design draws inspiration from the dimpled texture of a golf ball and the sponsor’s logo, which is repeated across the piece.
The two patterns combine effectively, creating areas of silver highlights and shadows. The contrast, achieved through oxidising and polishing the sterling silver, adds to the dramatic impact of the design.
Peterhead granite, a key material in Aberdeen’s architectural heritage, has been used and polished in jewellery and silverware, making it the perfect choice for the focal point at the centre of the trophy. This detail offers a subtle nod to the local region, where the inaugural Nexo Championship was played.
Grant Forrest was in dominant form over the weekend in tough conditions at Trump International Golf Links, finishing his round with a four-shot victory to lift the title. With this win, the World Number 294 climbed to the summit of the Closing Swing rankings, with only next week’s Danish Golf Championship remaining.
With the Championship televised live on Sky Sports, the event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase world-class golf, played here in the North-east of Scotland, to a global audience.
Jamieson & Carry would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Grant on his victory and to all the golfers who took part in the inaugural Nexo Championship.
