JCE Group (JCE) is proud to support The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025 through its specialist renewable energy division, JCE Energy, by providing a Transportable Hybrid Power Module to deliver low-emission power to vendor stalls located in Castlegate - one of the main public areas during the event.
Taking place from July 19 to 22, the Tall Ships Races are set to attract more than 400,000 visitors to Aberdeen’s harbour and city centre. For this one-off project supporting the Tall Ships Races, JCE Energy’s Transportable Hybrid Power Module will operate alongside a diesel generator to power the trade stalls at Castlegate.
Delivered in collaboration with Norco and James Aiken Engineering specifically for this event, the system will significantly reduce generator runtime, fuel consumption and emissions by carrying the majority of the electrical load
The Transportable Hybrid Power Module integrates solar generation, wind input, battery storage, and smart control systems within a compact, modular frame. Designed for versatile off-grid use, it ensures stable and efficient power delivery with minimal environmental and acoustic disruption - an ideal alternative to standard generator-only setups often used at public events.
“Deploying our Transportable Hybrid Power Module at the Tall Ships is a practical demonstration of how hybrid systems can support public events in a cleaner, quieter and more efficient way,” said Marco Gheza, General Manager of JCE Energy. “By reducing reliance on diesel generation, we’re delivering meaningful environmental benefits while ensuring a dependable power supply for stallholders and visitors. It’s a strong example of how the energy transition is taking shape across industries and public infrastructure.”
Built and assembled in Aberdeen, the system supports remote monitoring and rapid deployment. Optional features such as integrated lighting, data logging, and safety alarms can be added, further enhancing performance and usability in a variety of temporary or permanent off-grid applications.
The collaboration between JCE, Norco, and James Aiken reflects the growing role of industry partnerships in supporting sustainable, real-world energy applications - not only in industrial sectors but also in community-facing events. By minimising reliance on fossil fuel systems, the project demonstrates how cleaner energy can be brought to the heart of public life.
JCE, a global leader in explosion-proof and hazardous area equipment, continues to drive innovation through JCE Energy, offering renewable and hybrid solutions tailored for both industrial and civic environments.
