Jim Young, Industry Technical Consultant, at Recycl8 has been recognised with the prestigious Outstanding Contribution award at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Scotland Awards.
The award celebrates Jim’s remarkable influence on civil engineering and his commitment to advancing the industry.
Jim’s relationship with ICE spans more than 51 years. Throughout this time, he has dedicated countless hours to volunteering and leadership. He has served as President of the Aberdeen Association of Civil Engineers, chaired ICE Scotland, and contributed as a key member of the Policy and External Affairs Committee. In addition, Jim has inspired future generations through his work as a STEM Ambassador, encouraging young people to explore careers in engineering.
The judging panel praised Jim’s passion for civil engineering and his commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Jim’s award is a testament to his lifelong dedication to the profession and his role in driving progress within the industry. He is an asset to the Recycl8 team known for turning incinerator bottom ash aggregate (IBAA), often destined for landfill, transforming it into a sustainable, lower carbon component for concrete manufacture.
