His other television credits include the role of Dr Jack Marshland in Cranford, Alistair in Casualty, Prentice McHoan in The Crow Road, Dallas McCabe in Sex, Chips and Rock n' Roll and roles in Sparkhouse, Judge John Deed, The Law, High Road and Taggart.

Most recently Dawn Steele played Stella Quinn in Shetland, for which she was nominated for a Scottish RTS Award, and has been a series regular, DCI Cora MacMillan in Granite Harbour. Dawn is well known for her portrayals of Lexie MacDonald in the hit BBC drama Monarch of the Glen, Alice Trevanion in the ITV drama Wild At Heart, Dr Annie Jandhu in BBC soap River City and series regular Ange Godard in the BBC’s Holby City.

HMT stalwart Paul J Corrigan makes a welcome return as Buttons, and panto favourite Danielle Jam will take on the title role as Cinderella. Returning star Julie Coombe and acclaimed performer Helen Logan will team up as the Wicked Sisters.

Aberdeen Performing Arts chief executive, Sharon Burgess, said: “We are thrilled that the fabulous Joe and Dawn are joining us for what is sure to be an unforgettable festive season at HMT.

"The addition of Helen alongside our lovely Julie Coombe is a genius pairing for our wicked sisters, and of course we can’t wait to welcome back our beloved panto dame Alan McHugh for his 21st year.

"We are equally excited to be joined once again by the talented and wonderful Danielle Jam and Paul J Corrigan for a magical panto with Cinderella.”

Cinderella is staged by Crossroads Pantomimes, the world’s biggest pantomime producer, led by chief executive Michael Harrison, and the creative team behind last year’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Michael Harrison said: “With Joe and Dawn heading up a cast that includes much-loved Scottish talent and returning HMT panto favourites, this year’s Cinderella promises to be full of heart, humour and festive magic.

"Our long-standing partnership with Aberdeen Performing Arts continues to thrive, and it’s always a pleasure to bring such talented cast to the stage at HMT.”

You shall go to the ball this Christmas with the spectacular family pantomime, Cinderella.

Packed with all the traditional pantomime ingredients Aberdeen audiences expect, Cinderella features laugh-out-loud comedy, stunning scenery, beautiful costumes and plenty of boos and hisses.
