John Clark Motor Group has completed the acquisition of the Barnetts Volkswagen dealerships in Dundee and St Andrews, further strengthening its long-standing partnership with Volkswagen and expanding its presence across Scotland.
The acquisition brings the two dealerships into John Clark Motor Group’s growing portfolio of franchised sites, reinforcing the Group’s commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, extensive vehicle choice, and expert support across new and used sales, aftersales and ownership services.
This development forms part of Volkswagen Group UK’s Ideal Network Plan, a strategic realignment of the brand’s UK retail network. As part of this process, the Specialist Cars Volkswagen dealerships in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy will transfer to Eastern Western Motor Group.
Both the Barnetts Dundee and St Andrews dealerships will rebrand as John Clark Volkswagen and continue to operate as official Volkswagen franchises. All existing colleagues will transfer as part of the acquisition, with John Clark Motor Group placing strong emphasis on continuity for both customers and staff, ensuring a smooth transition while maintaining the high standards associated with the Volkswagen brand.

Volkswagen Dundee relocation
As part of the transition, the Volkswagen Dundee dealership will relocate to John Clark Motor Group’s state-of-the-art multi-franchise facility on Broomhill Road, Dundee. The recently redeveloped site already represents SEAT, Škoda and CUPRA, alongside an extensive selection of approved used vehicles, bringing all Volkswagen Group brands together under one roof. Designed with customer experience at its core, the facility sets a new benchmark for automotive retail and aftersales services in the region.
Volkswagen St Andrews will continue to operate from its existing location at Largo Road, St Andrews.
The addition of the Dundee and St Andrews dealerships supports John Clark Motor Group’s ongoing growth strategy, focused on investing in leading automotive brands, supporting local communities, and delivering outstanding customer experiences. This follows the successful acquisition of the Hawco Group in October 2025, further strengthening the Group’s position within the Scottish automotive market.
