Katoni Engineering has joined the River Dee Trust’s River Dee Guardians programme, a network of corporate supporters funding conservation and river restoration across the catchment.

The partnership will support practical, long-term work to restore habitats, protect biodiversity and strengthen the river’s resilience to climate change, benefiting wildlife and the communities that depend on it.

Claire Fleming, Engagement Officer at the River Dee Trust, said: “The Dee supports a rich diversity of wildlife and is an important part of local life. Climate change and habitat loss are putting it under growing pressure, making sustained investment in its recovery essential.

“We’re delighted to welcome Katoni as a River Dee Guardian. At a time when funding is increasingly difficult to secure, this commitment helps us plan ahead and deliver conservation work where it is needed most.

“We also look forward to welcoming the team to the riverbank, with volunteering opportunities that connect colleagues with nature, support wellbeing and make a tangible difference to the catchment.”

James Bream, CEO at Katoni added: "We’re proud and excited to become a River Dee Guardian. Sometimes in life things are chosen for us, the Guardian opportunity came at a time when we'd lost someone special and we were searching for a variety of things, one of which was a way to remember them. Speaking to the Trust about what they do we recognised the range of initiatives to help repair and maintain were a perfect fit. Together we can remember, celebrate and help retain a legacy for the team at Katoni, family members and those who want to enjoy one of Aberdeen’s greatest natural features."
