Maverston Golf Course, a leading golfing destination near Elgin, is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Stables as Golf operations manager.

Les Reid, senior manager at Maverston Golf Course, said: “Kevin is a highly-skilled and experienced golf professional and we’re delighted to welcome him to the team. We have ambitious plans in place, and we’re confident Kevin’s experience, local knowledge and track record of success will serve him well in his role. We look forward to working with Kevin and continuing to provide an excellent golfing experience to all players.”

Kevin is a PGA Director of Golf and Advanced Fellow of the PGA with more than 30 years of industry experience including 26 years as Head Professional of three golf clubs in Scotland. He joins Maverston having spent more than six years as a Business Development Consultant at one of UK’s largest golf retail groups where he assisted PGA professionals in all aspects of golf retail sales and golf management.

Kevin is also an accomplished player and represented Scotland at Boys’ level in 1978 before spending two years on the European Tour in 1983-84. He has won numerous titles as a Club professional in Scotland and is a former winner of the Scottish Region Order of Merit. His career highlights include competing as a PGA Cup player, being part of the winning Scottish team at the 1990 European Team Championship and placing runner up at the 1991 British Club Professionals Championship.

Commenting on his appointment, Kevin said: “I am delighted to be joining Maverston and hugely excited by the potential of the golf course and its unique position in the market. The business has invested heavily over the past five years, and Maverston is now a leading golfing destination in Morayshire with an exceptional playing surface and facilities on offer. I look forward to being part of the next phase of the project and driving the business forward.”

Maverston Golf Course is located in Urquhart near Elgin and boasts an 18-hole, 6,335 yard Par 71 parkland course and a 9-hole, 1,250 yard Par 3 course. The course now compliments Moray’s fantastic array of golfing facilities and has a wide variety of competitions available throughout the year for all levels of golfers.

The next scheduled Open Competition is the three-day open which takes place on July 5 -6 and 7 2019. The entry fee is £40 for non-members, and early booking is recommended. For the first time, this competition is also open to ladies.

The golf course has a range of memberships available and will soon be launching its special six-month membership offer ranging from £105 to £200, starting from Monday, July 1 2019.
