KLM adds an additional 11,000 seats from Aberdeen to one of Europe’s leading hub airports

Aberdeen International Airport has today Monday, June 3, welcomed KLM’s decision to add a further daily midweek service to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol for the airline’s winter 2019/2020 schedule.

The enhanced winter schedule will increase the current four midweek flights each day to include an additional fifth service, starting on Monday, October 28.

Using one of the airline’s 100-seat capacity Embraer E190 fleet, the additional daily midweek flight will add nearly 22,000 seats to and from Amsterdam on the popular route, an overall increase in seat capacity of 18% compared to the same period last year.

The extra capacity will create new opportunities for customers to visit the beautiful city of Amsterdam for a short break or take advantage of quick and convenient connections to 162 KLM destinations worldwide, via its award winning hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Flight times for the additional services are as follows: KL1445 Amsterdam – Aberdeen 11:40 – 12:10 and KL1446 Aberdeen – Amsterdam 12:40 – 15:15

Steve Szalay, managing director at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “The introduction of this additional daily rotation is fantastic news for the airport and our passengers, particularly given the volume of additional seats involved.

“Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a key destination for both inbound and outbound business travellers and given the connectivity it provides in its capacity as one of Europe’s busiest hub airports, it is also extremely popular with our leisure passengers and those working in the oil and gas industry.”

Benedicte Duval, general manager for Air France-KLM in the UK & Ireland, said: “As a result of positive commercial performance and strong passenger numbers, we are delighted to be able to add 18% of extra capacity on our Aberdeen to Amsterdam route for the winter season.

“The addition of an extra weekday flight on the route will provide people in the Aberdeen area with five daily flights to Amsterdam, giving passengers greater opportunity to take advantage of our worldwide connections from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.”

The additional flights this winter and next summer are now on sale. To book visit: www.klm.com
