Aberdeen head-quartered Krona Subsea has reported a strong start to 2026.

With significant advances in research and development coupled with commercial success, the subsea electronics and connectivity expert is consolidating its reputation as a leading provider of innovative subsea systems.

In collaboration with a world-renowned maritime research organisation, Krona has conducted industry-leading research on propeller efficiency. By integrating its pinless connector technology, Maelstrom, into rotating equipment, it has developed a low-power, high-bandwidth data transfer solution for ship propellers. This marks the first study of its kind on propeller efficiency with environmental benefits. The smart propellers which can report real-time scenarios also optimise fuel consumption and mitigate underwater noise.

In addition to maritime research, Krona has also reported high value orders this financial year from clients in offshore energy and defence for its unique, patented WiSub pinless subsea connector technology.

These orders reinforce confidence in Krona Subsea’s proprietary technology for reliable subsea power and data transfer in the world’s harshest environments.

Reflecting on the company’s growing success, Managing Director, Nigel Money, said: “We’re pleased to report a period of sustained growth for our R&D initiatives and commercial success alike. These developments only strengthen our position as an industry-leading developer of subsea technology with proven operational efficiency in extreme environments.

“As we look ahead, we are building a strong foundation for future opportunities as the adoption of our technology continues to accelerate.”

Krona Subsea continues to lead the way in next generation subsea technology across a variety of sectors, including offshore energy, defence and research. Its WiSub pinless connectors are redefining and elevating industry standards, creating new possibilities for the safe and reliable transfer of power and data underwater.
