Hilton Instruments Ltd, a long-established Aberdeen-based laboratory supply company, is targeting further diversification following its acquisition by Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) Ltd in late 2025.

The move forms part of Nottingham-headquartered SLS’s strategy to expand its UK network, with the acquisition—following the retirement of previous owner Kevin Norrie—also providing a gateway into the international offshore energy market. Around half of Hilton Instruments’ turnover comes from exports to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Now part of the SLS group, the company is looking to broaden its presence across additional sectors, including food and drink, environmental, education and healthcare, supported by SLS’s UK-wide reach and market expertise.

Ross McKenzie, who will celebrate 30 years with the business in 2027, has been appointed Operations and General Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations and a team of 25 staff.

Alongside equipment supply, Hilton Instruments provides calibration, repair and servicing support, with engineers available for worldwide travel. The company holds ISO 9001 certification for Quality Management and ISO 17025 accreditation from UKAS for specified temperature, time and rotational speed, underlining its commitment to quality and compliance.
