Award winning presenter and radio broadcaster, Lauren Mitchell, has been confirmed as host of Charlie House’s Big Charlie House Ball this year.
The North-East charity is preparing to welcome hundreds of guests for an unforgettable evening celebrating the moments that matter most. Taking place at the Ball’s new venue of The Chester Hotel on Friday 13 November, this year’s event is themed ‘Moments that Matter’ - a reflection of the precious moments Charlie House helps make possible for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and the families who love them.
Guests will enjoy a sparkling drinks reception, a three-course dinner, fundraising activities and entertainment throughout the evening, before dancing the night away with one of UK’s biggest show groups, Splash.
Lauren said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be hosting The Big Charlie House Ball this year. Charlie House is a charity I have always had huge admiration for and I think everything they do to support children and families across the North-east of Scotland is nothing short of incredible.
I am excited for what is going to be a special night. We’re going to have loads of fun and most importantly, celebrate the fantastic work Charlie House does. I’m honoured to be part of it.”
With more than 1,800 children living with a life-limiting condition across the North-east of Scotland, demand for Charlie House’s specialist support continues to grow. The Ball is the charity’s flagship event, helping raise essential funds every year. Every ticket purchased and every pound raised will help Charlie House continue providing practical, emotional and specialist support to families across the North-East of Scotland.
Emma Leiper Finlayson, Director of Fundraising at Charlie House, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lauren Mitchell as host of this year’s Big Charlie House Ball. Her warmth, humour and ability to connect with an audience make her the perfect person to lead what promises to be a fantastic evening.
“This year’s theme, Moments that Matter, is at the very heart of everything we do at Charlie House. Every day, we see first-hand how important the big and small moments are - whether that’s helping a child take part in an activity that they might have thought out of reach because of the nature of their condition, supporting a sibling, or creating space for families to spend precious time with one another.
As a charity, we rely entirely on the generosity of our local community to deliver our services, and there is currently no other support like it. Last year’s Ball raised enough to fund the equivalent of 76 days of Charlie House support. That’s the real impact our sponsors, guests and supporters make - helping ensure this lifeline remains available to local families when they need it.”
The charity is encouraging businesses to book tables for colleagues and clients, while individuals and groups of friends are also invited to join in the celebration of moments that matter. Businesses looking to make an even greater impact can also support the Ball through a range of sponsorship opportunities.
Tickets and tables are now available. To book your place or find out more about sponsorship opportunities, please email fundraise@charliehouse.org.uk or visit: www.charliehouse.org.uk/events.
