Maskame & Tait Ltd has marked a major milestone as Co‑Founder Gary Maskame retires from day‑to‑day operations after 35 years leading the Peterhead‑based construction firm.
Gary steps back on his 67th birthday, exactly 25 years after the company acquired the historic Taylor Bros joinery business — a defining moment in the firm’s growth.
As the business celebrates Gary’s contribution and legacy, it also highlights the progression of three former apprentices who represent the company’s future. Taylor McGruther, Harrison Strachan, and Fraser Weir have each completed their apprenticeships with Maskame & Tait and now advanced into new roles within the organisation.

Pictured with the trio as the company were filming interviews for the Trades Awards after being announced as finalists in the Outstanding Construction Company category, Director Scott Maskame praised the former apprentices “these three young people are superb examples of what can be achieved after completing apprenticeships at Maskame & Tait and the wider construction industry in general. We fully recognise their strengths, efforts and commitment and are proud to announce their advancements into key roles as we grow our company for the future. They are an inspiration to our current group of apprentices”.
The company have also just enrolled two new 1st year apprentices in joinery and painting as they continue to provide opportunities to young people, invest in the future and grow the local construction workforce of tomorrow.
