Aberdeen City Council co-leader Ian Yuill has said the Liberal Democrats are open to reviewing the city centre bus gates once work on Union Street is complete.
The long-standing supporter of the restrictions said his party “is open to a review of the bus gates once Union Street central is complete”, adding: “Nothing lasts forever.”
Mr Yuill also said he could “neither confirm nor deny” claims from former SNP council co-leader Alex Nicoll that the Lib Dem group had been whipped into supporting the bus gates.
The comments mark a shift in tone from the SNP-Lib Dem administration, which has consistently defended the restrictions since their introduction in 2023.
Labour group leader M Tauqeer Malik accused Mr Yuill of “naked electioneering”, while Conservative group leader Richard Brooks questioned why the Lib Dems had not acted sooner.
