To coincide with Liver Cancer Awareness Month this October, Edinburgh-based health screening provider LiverScan is urging employers to take a proactive role in prevention by offering onsite liver health assessments for their staff.
Liver cancer remains one of the most serious and rapidly rising health threats in the UK, with cases more than doubling over the last two decades. Most liver cancers develop as a result of long-term liver damage, which often goes undetected in its early stages.
LiverScan delivers corporate liver screening services using FibroScan® technology, a quick, painless and non-invasive tool that measures liver stiffness and fat. These are key indicators of liver disease, and when caught early, can be managed or reversed through lifestyle interventions or further medical investigation.
Claire Hardie, chief operating officer of LiverScan, said: “Liver cancer is often preventable - but only if liver disease is detected early. Liver Cancer Awareness Month is the ideal time for businesses to take meaningful action. Our screenings are efficient and insightful, and they show employees that their health is a real priority.”
Each scan takes just 15 minutes and is carried out at the workplace, with no disruption to the working day. Employees receive instant results and personalised guidance on what their results mean and what actions they can take.
LiverScan also offers liver health talks, digital resources and wellbeing campaign support to help HR and wellbeing teams embed liver screening into their broader health strategy.
As part of this year’s campaign, LiverScan is encouraging companies across the North-east to lead the way in prevention, raise awareness about liver cancer, and empower their staff to take control of their health.
