DDK Positioning, headquartered in Aberdeen and specialising in GNSS Precise Point Positioning (PPP), was awarded a Highly Commended distinction in the Innovation category at last week’s Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards.

The category celebrates companies whose applied innovation delivers significant industry impact. DDK’s entry focused on its breakthrough 99% reduction in data transmission requirements, which has enabled the uniquely cost-effective delivery of its PPP service via Iridium’s satellite network.

As the only PPP provider operating on Iridium’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation, DDK delivers better-than-5 cm positioning accuracy with true pole-to-pole coverage. Even in the event of signal loss, DDK’s solution can maintain an asset’s position for up to 10 minutes, ensuring unmatched precision, reliability, and security for the offshore energy and maritime sectors.

Partnerships with Iridium, GNSS hardware developer Topcon Positioning Systems and Oceaneering have been integral to DDK’s technology leadership, and the strong financial growth reported earlier this year. Judges also praised the company’s 95% employee retention rate, well above the industry average and a key driver of sustained innovation.

Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Finance Director Caroline Smith said: “We are delighted our PPP solution has been recognised for pushing the boundaries of precision and resilience, inherently improving efficiency in the offshore and maritime industries whilst minimising environmental impact.

“A huge thank you to our partners, clients, and colleagues who continue to support our mission to redefine the possibilities within global navigation.”
