A day of free family fun took place across two venues at Aberdeen’s Beach Esplanade at the weekend.

The event took place on Saturday, February 9 at Sport Aberdeen’s Beach Leisure Centre and Linx Ice Arena, registered charity, Sport Aberdeen and local children’s entertainment company Love Rara held an open day for the whole family to take part in and enjoy.

Across the two venues there were a range of activities including face painting, a silent disco, dance competitions, an inflatable velcro wall as well as catering and lighting supplied by local businesses, Rainbow Dropz and LaLa Lights.

Sport Aberdeen’s director of community leisure operations, David Selkirk said: “We were delighted to host this event which showcased such a broad scope of physical activity and children’s entertainment opportunities, all of which are provided by local charities and businesses.”

Sport Aberdeen had information points for its full range of coached programmes, from aquatics and gymnastics to tennis and ice skating, alongside stalls run by Scottish Cancer charity, Logan’s Fund and Me Too! who provide and promote activities and services for children with additional support needs across Aberdeen city and the shire.

There was a number of fitness taster classes with Sport Aberdeen’s Health and Wellness Advisers and promotional displays by judo, roller derby and basketball clubs who train at the Beach Leisure Centre on a weekly basis.
