Local charities to benefit from Northern Star Awards

FIVE local charities are set to benefit from the generosity of the North-east business community after being named charity partners in the Northern Star Business Awards.

Befriend a Child, Charlie House, Inspire PTL (Partnership Through Life), NSPCC Scotland and the Denis Law Legacy Trust have been selected as beneficiaries of funds raised during the annual black tie event which takes place on October 5, 2017.

A total of 42 finalists will join around 600 guests at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre for the glittering awards ceremony organised by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce. Now in their 14th year, the Northern Star Business Awards recognise companies in the North-east for their exceptional accomplishments across a range of fields from energy to innovation and people development to customer service.

Head of membership at the Chamber Seona Shand said it was important that as well as celebrating business excellence, the event could support member charities:

“It is a good time to remember others less fortunate than ourselves and we were delighted that more than £5,600 was raised for local charities through the generosity of guests who attended our 2016 event,” she said.

“This year we hope smash that record and help make a difference to the lives of people here in the region.”
