A local children’s charity has secured a £60,000 award over three-years following a successful application to The Robertson Trust’s open awards programme.
Charlie House, which supports babies, children and young people with complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions in the North-east of Scotland, will receive £20,000 funding each year for three years, which will part-fund their Activities Co-ordinator post with the remaining funds being used for the charity’s activity clubs.
Leigh Ryrie, Children and family support manager for Charlie House, says, “We are very grateful to have been successful with our award application to The Robertson Trust. This substantial award will enable the charity to continue to deliver inclusive, supported activity clubs for families and able-bodied siblings throughout the year. We have recently expanded our activities offering with further Summer clubs being added to support parents and provide opportunities to have fun for the whole family, meet others, make friends, try new activities and do things that the children and families love. Charlie House aim to give families confidence to achieve what initially seems impossible with the right support.”
Leigh continues, “Charlie House’ trust and grant applications provide a vital source of income and help us to develop our services, offer more diversity as well as reaching out to, and supporting, more families. This benefits families right here in our local community and throughout the North-east of Scotland.”

“As part of our Care and Wellbeing funding strand, The Robertson Trust is committed to supporting work which has the potential to reduce mental health and well-being issues. This, in turn, contributes to our overall aim to improving the quality of life and realising the potential of people and communities in Scotland.
