Local designer to present work at make open evening

Local designer and Graphics Artist Jamie Cameron is giving a presentation of his products and unique design process alongside other local creatives in Aberdeen city centre to celebrate the run of MAKE, Aberdeen's open studio for designers and creators. The event is being held at MAKE: 17 Belmont Street, on Saturday, March 17 from 6:30pm.

Jamie, who runs Jamie Cameron 3D Graphics and local arts firm Aberdeen Art, designed last year's Northern Star Business Awards in a unique light-up oak and engraved acrylic format, and actually developed some of his best work at MAKE. As well as the Northern Star Awards, he will be exhibiting a range of bespoke commissions and the story behind them, as well as the new Cities of the World collection, which take prominent cities, turns them into a memorable skyline of well-known landmarks and engraves the entire design onto acrylic in extremely high detail using lasers. As well as physical examples of his pieces, the evening will comprise a short slideshow presentation and chance for questions, with complimentary refreshments.

MAKE, which is going to be closing due to budget cuts is going out with a bang and invites members, students and the public to come along on Saturday to see some examples of work created in the facility by different local designers. MAKE offers digital fabrication, CAD, and 3D printing services to people who are looking to utilise new technology to develop new products, test their ideas, or just have fun.

Jamie, who specialises in providing high realism 3D Graphics and Animation services relates that the closure of MAKE will be a real loss to the creative community in Aberdeen City, as well as to the general buzz of Belmont Street: '

There is really nothing like MAKE in Aberdeen; it's a place where anyone can come and learn about exciting new technology, use the equipment, work on the Apple computers and get advice on their project or idea, free of charge. I've met students working on their portfolios, small businesses using the facilities to develop new services and retirees taking up a new hobby, and everything in between- the feeling of community is tangible, and in acting as a hub for creative people to meet there is a sense of real change and excitement in the city centre.'

'This event is a great chance to network with some creative people at the forefront of new technology, and see some really interesting projects, so be sure to come along if you can make it.'
