Local independent filmmaker Ross Milne returns to the Seasonal Discussions podcast to discuss the progress of his filmmaking journey and what lies ahead for his next project.
Hosted by Chris McDonald and produced by SZN Media Ltd, the latest episode revisits Ross following his previous appearance in 2025. Since then, work has continued to develop around his creative projects, including the reception to his recent film Oldburgh and early development of his upcoming project, Loch Hands.
During the discussion, Ross reflects on the importance of collaboration within independent filmmaking, particularly the value of building and maintaining a crew that understands a director’s creative vision. He also shares some of the influences that shape his work, including film directors he looks up to and how their approaches inspire his own storytelling.
Ross said: "Having the right crew around you makes a huge difference. When people understand the vision, it helps bring the story to life in a much stronger way."
The episode also explores Ross’s continued commitment to supporting local talent. Through his work, he aims to create opportunities for people interested in filmmaking to gain experience and develop their skills within the North-east’s creative community.
