TechnipFMP will project manage a contract for the new oil field worth at least £412million.

The Newcastle-based company has not revealed the total value of the deal, but categorised it as a 'large' project.

That means it could be worth as little as £412million or as much as around £820million.

Rosebank was given the green light by the regulator last week. It's the UK's largest untapped oil field and and is estimated to contain 500 million barrels of oil.

TechnipFMP has said its new work will boost operations across Scotland and the UK, as well as local economies, jobs and the supply chain.

Bosses have hailed it as "good news" for company locations, including one in Westhill.

North-east leading the way

“It supports existing jobs and provides opportunities for people who want to continue or start a career in the energy industry."

Continuing, she added: “The project will be led from our facility in Aberdeen. The city is also the operational base for our fleet of vessels, which will install all equipment for the development.

“The expertise we have developed in oil and gas is directly transferrable to energy transition technologies, and contracts like Rosebank help enable the new opportunities energy transition present.”
